Choose Your Own Adventure book of the week!

Posted on 9:45 PM by fjtrfjf
Nagsimula ang Choose Your Own Adventure book series noong 1979. First developed and written by Edward packard.

The Skatebirds, The Robonic Stooges, & Wonder Wheels Cartoon Opening Video

Posted on 1:30 AM by fjtrfjf
There was nothing like watching your favorite cartoons on a rainy afternoon after school, or waking up early to catch Saturday morning cartoons. Relive the best of '60s, '70s, and '80s cartoons with Cartoon TV Rama!

Watch video clips of opening sequences and famous scenes taken from your favorite animated shows!

The Skatebirds, The Robonic Stooges, & Wonder Wheels (1977)

Various clips from the shortened, syndicated version of the Skatebirds. The show originally aired on Saturday mornings in 1977, was an attempt to duplicate the studio's previous series, The Banana Splits. Originally, the Skatebirds ran an hour featured three animated segments: The Robonic Stooges, Wonder Wheels, and Woofer and Wimper (which were shortened versions of the Clue Club cartoon), and one serialized adventure, Mystery Island. This version only contains the Skatebirds segments, as well as Wonder Wheels and two episodes of the Robonic Stooges.

Heaven - Fiction Factory 80's Music Video

Posted on 1:26 AM by fjtrfjf

Heaven - Fiction Factory
"Heaven is closer, heaven is closer."

"(Feels Like) Heaven" was a hit on new wave radio stations in America and in the Philippines. Misinterpreted by many radio listeners as a love song, "(Feels Like) Heaven" is actually about a bitter breakup; to the band's dismay the track stereotyped them as purveyors of sentimental synth-pop ballads. "(Feels Like) Heaven" was revived in 1995 on Rhino's Just Can't Get Enough: New Wave Hits of the 80s, Vol. 13, and Columbia reissued the Throw the Warped Wheel Out album on CD that year. Fiction Factory released a second LP, Another Story, in 1985 before splitting up.

Hello Nostalgia Manila. I wanted to let everyone know that I love everything you feature on the site. You really know your stuff! I went crazy when I saw the commercial clips of the Daimos and Voltes V toys! Napaka bagsik! I must've watched those clips 10 times that day. I remember seeing those commercials when my family and I went on a trip to Tokyo when I was about 5 years old. Man you really took me back in time. Pero hindi lang yun! You also featured one of my favorite Saturday Fun Machine cartoons Super 6! Tapos you pretty much featured most of the toys I had when I was a kid, Movie Viewer, Speak & Spell, Trump Cards, View Master, pati Game & Watch! The fun never stops talaga. Ang dami pa. Please feature more toys, cartoons, and old shows. I really love this site. It's about time a site worth visiting is part of the Pinoy blogosphere. You are the coolest blog talaga!
-Julius, Makati

Hello Nostalgia. I'm a big music fan and I must say that I love every music related features you've posted. I really love the 1987 KISS FM Aircheck with AJ Fats. Man I haven't heard that song Don't Disturb This Groove in ages, and it really brought back so many great memories. I used to listen to that song over and over when we'd have gimmiks every Saturday night at Greenhills. Carerra at White Plains. Those were the days. I also love your Video Hit Parade Classics. Man you really know which videos to feature. I'm a big fan of U2, OMD, Tears For Fears, Pet Shop Boys, and that China Crisis video I haven't seen in a long long time. Really brings back memories. Thank you so much, and please keep posting cool music features and videos.

Nostalgia Bloggista: Ala Paredes

Posted on 12:22 AM by fjtrfjf
Are you a Pinoy Blogger? Get featured as a Nostalgia Bloggista! Not only are you sharing your wonderful memories of the '70s and '80s, but you also get a free link back! This is a great way to introduce your blog and get a lot of exposure! Just send me an email, write "Nostalgia Bloggista" on the subject line, and you'll soon be featured here on Nostalgia Bloggista!

Name: Angela 'Ala' Paredes
Blog: http://ala-ism.pansitan.net

1. Where did you grow up, and what made that place special?
I grew up on Katipunan, and it's the best place to grow up on earth! Growing up on a university belt is to grow up in a place that's forever dynamic and young. Plus, there are a million cheap restaurants to eat at, and every service in earth available, from book-binding to printing tarpaulin. Plus, you always have a beautiful place to escape to, either Ateneo or UP campus. Katipunera forever!

2. What was your favorite tv show, cartoon, or children's show growing up? What did you like about these shows that made them your favorite?
I watched Jem and the Holograms religiously. She was Barbie gone glamrock! Ang cool lang niya talaga. She had everything, a glampop band, big pink hair, high-tech earrings, and a boyfriend who was in love with both her and her alter-ego. I have 3 Jem t-shirts :-)

Oh, and I also loved SHAIDER, and came as Annie for Halloween 2 years ago. My boyfriend was Shaider, and we won 10,000 pesos at a costume contest for it.

3. Favorite music group or artist? Most memorable song?
Growing up, I was into Basia (because of my parents)
and knew the words to "Time and Tide" growing up. I also loved the New Kids on the Block, tsaka Janet Jackson. I thought she was so cool when she came out with her black trench coat, and a key for an earring.

Most memorable song, "The Right Stuff", by New Kids.

4. Share with our readers one of your fondest memories of growing up.
Playing on the street. I was the typical 80s kid,
playing on the piles of sand and gravel doon sa may construction, biking around the neighbourhood, and of course, we had a 'secret club'. I was an outdoors kid.

5. What do you miss from back then that's not available today?
I hate how kids nowadays don't play outside anymore.
All they want to do is Gameboy or Playstation. Also, toys nowadays are so hightech and leave so little to the imagination. Back when I was young, I could pick up a rock, pretend it was "magic", and that would keep me entertained for the rest of the afternoon.
